Today is Cohen’s adjusted due date. We originally thought he was due April 18, but we learned after he was born that that was about a week off…so here we are at his due date. It is surreal to look at Cohen and think that today is the day he was supposed to be born on, yet in reality he is almost 11 weeks old. We are still trying to figure out how to answer the plethora of questions we get from strangers, but essentially when they say “oh a newborn” or “wow, a brand new baby” we just smile and say “Yes.”
Cohen is thriving and doing great. The reflux is still his biggest battle, and we are now realizing that we need a burp cloth at ALL feedings. He really really does well on his belly: less grunting, less spit up, more sleeping. At his 3 month check up we will be asking about the possibility of getting an apena monitor for him which would allow him to sleep on his belly. The zantac just doesn’t seem to be doing the trick anymore and we can tell he is just miserable after eating.
We spent the day visiting with old friends and watching movies with Uncle Doug. It was a very relaxing “due date”! The most exciting part of this day is we can now start counting Cohen’s developmental age in positive numbers! So, here it goes….developmentally, today Cohen is zero.
